Unnatural Gardening

Eastoft Gardening Club

Peter Williams

We continue 2017 with a talk entitled
Unnatural Gardening.

Much is now made of the need to garden naturally and to garden for wildlife. This talk briefly explores fashions in gardening and then looks at the concept of natural gardening and questions whether this current fashion is actually possible, sustainable or even desirable.

The talk has four main sections – native vs alien species, naturalistic planting, encouraging wildlife into the garden and organic gardening.

The conclusion reached might well be that all gardeners – even the most ‘ecologically sound’, definitely adopt unnatural practices!

This talk adopts a humorous approach but covers important underlying themes
