Parish Council Elections

Want to make a difference in Eastoft?

Then become a local parish councillor.

Local elections, including town and parish council elections, will take place on Thursday 2 May 2019.

If you are over 18, then you are probably eligible to be a parish councillor for the parish where you live or work, tackling issues that matter to your local area – like the provision of leisure facilities, youth projects, community centres and community transport, festivals and celebrations.

Nomination packs

Nomination packs for the Parish Council elections are now available.  Please contact the Elections Team on 01724 296245.

The nomination period will open on 27 March 2019, following the publication of the notice of election, and will close at 4pm prompt on 3 April 2019. The nomination period is the time when nomination forms can be checked and handed in.

All information required for candidates and agents is available through the Electoral Commission’s website, which I would encourage all those involved to read.

The range of ‘guide for candidates’ publications are available on the Electoral Commission website.

They are an extremely useful source of guidance and advice.

The guides cover the following areas for example:

  •        Can you stand for election?
  •        Standing as an independent candidate
  •        Standing as a party candidate
  •        Spending and donations
  •        The campaign
  •        Your right to attend key electoral events
  •        After the declaration of results
