This group has been set up to ensure everyone is aware of the potential threat of a proposed waste hub in Swinefleet, Crowle, Eastoft & surrounding villages at the Old Peatworks .

An entity called 4R propose to transport in and process human sewage, creating immense carbon footprint given it is coming from hundreds of miles.

There is no local demand for this highly controversial, toxic & failed waste produce.

Planning has been declined and 4R have lost an appeal on very narrow grounds, hence we must remain vigilant.

Closing date for objections 17th April 2020

Waste Storage Facility

Proposal to increase traffic In Crowle and Eastoft

4R APPEAL

The following is from the Keep Me Rural facebook page.

As you will note from prior posts, our nemesis 4r; have appealed the Planning decline, see attached.

As also noted by such as Vin, there is nothing really new in here other than they appear to propose to move more trucks up through Crowle & Eastoft, thinking that will dampen opposition.

It won’t.

They also note that ERYC Planning committee hearing was chaotic & biased.

They still haven’t explained who will pay £3mn to fix up Readingate, as opposed to the paltry £5k they are offering;

They claim they are an experienced, respected operator (apart from when they got convicted in Carlisle!);

They claim they are/have worked with the local community and want to be good neighbours (bit untrue that);

They still think this harebrained Traffic Management Plan cooked up by ER will work;

Hopefully AP can have this called up again by Minister, thus taking decision out of local hands. We don’t think we get any inputs but are carefully studying.

Might be time before the next Planning hearing to organise a noisy, but legal demo in the three villages, get Look North out.

Don’t be disheartened, this lot are chancers and not that good

Waste Planning Consultation

Andrew Percy MP
HOUSE OF COMMONS
LONDON SWIA OAA

5 December 2018

Re: Planning Consultation for the Old Peat Works at Reading Gate Swinefleet, DN14 SDT
A number of residents in Eastoft and Luddington have raised concerns about the application by 4R Group for an organic waste recycling plant at the above address. Even though it is in the East Riding, Eastoft and Luddington are two of the closest communities to the site and I thought residents might like to be informed about it.

I have today been informed that a planning application has now been submitted by 4R and details are viewable on East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s planning website:

www.eastriding.gov.uk/planning

You can find the planning application by entering Public Access and searching reference number: 18/03711/CM

You are now able to submit any views you might have about the application to the Public Access website.

Alternatively, you can send them in via email to: beverley.dc@eastriding.gov.uk or by post. If you prefer to write in, please address your letter to:

Planning and Development Management Team,

East Riding of Yorkshire
Council, County Hall,
Cross Street,
Beverley, HU17 98A.

When submitting your comments, please remember to include your name, address and quote the planning application reference number.
I have strong concerns about the impact the operation would have locally, particularly from a transport point of view, and I have submitted my own objection letter today. When submitting your comments, it is important to focus on aspects of the operation which would be unacceptable on planning grounds such as: highway and traffic concerns, visual impact, and noise and environmental concerns.
As our MP, I have no formal role in the determination of planning applications or appeals. Indeed, MPs are not even formally consulted on such matters. My comments on this application will receive the same weight as any other local person’s and that is why it is vital residents make their views known.

As ever, if you have any further questions about this please do not hesitate to contact me or my office.

Yours sincerely,
Andrew Percy MP

4R Proposal Swinefleet

As I promised residents, I recently met with 4R who are behind the controversial potential planning application in Swinefleet. Many residents turned up to the recent consultation event, as did representatives from my office.
Sadly, I was unable to attend and therefore undertook to meet 4R myself to express my reservations about their proposed operation and the concerns of local residents.

I had a very civil meeting with representatives of 4R but it is fair to say we had to agree to differ about the impact of this potential operation and the appropriateness of the site proposed.

The crux of 4R’s argument was that there is a local need for their product and that the site they have selected already had permissions in place which allow it to be used for operations which can already have an impact on local residents.

I take a slightly different view and expressed this to them, particularly the impact that their operation could have from a transport point of view. With up to 32 HGV movements a day through Old Goole and Swinefleet as part of this operation, it is clear that there could be quite an impact on local residents.

I explained to 4R that we have had more than our fair share of disruption locally, not least with the construction of so many wind farms in the area and many of us feel there has already been enough industrialisation of our rural area from these.

I made very clear that residents are very concerned about an increase in HGVs and concerns about what some of these could be carrying and also when these movements would take place.

In short, we had a very civil meeting but I made clear to them that my job was to represent the concerns of local residents and that I would be doing just that if and when this progresses to a full application. Those concerns are legitimate and I will ensure that residents are kept fully updated.
