Forward at Last

So it appears that we can move forward at last!!!! We have finally managed to get a small grant off SSE North Lincolnshire Sustainable Development Fund to get us within sight of the finishing post. We are of course grateful to them for helping in this way.

However it now depends on all those that have signed up to say that they will have the new broadband to respond to any inquiries made by Openreach (both businesses and residents) so that the vouchers can be claimed to fund the majority of the costs.

Now, you may have been considering joining in on this and think ‘Now I don’t need to’ but that is NOT the case. Please still consider signing up especially if you will have the ultra fast broadband when it is available as this will make sure we have enough voucher funds (we only just have enough at present). EVERY one helps.

We need to start the process soon so if you want to sign up then contact me as we will need to send in the voucher list very soon.

Many many thanks for all the businesses and residents who have signed up already we are very grateful to you and you can stand proud for doing your bit for the village (we understand very clearly that not everyone can do this and that some will not ever need it) but a few more will make us more secure in being able to get going without worry.

Please please please consider signing. If you need more info or just want to sign up (which you can do over the phone if you want) then message/email me and I will contact you or give me a ring on 07710502125.

British Legion Invitation

GARTHORPE & DISTRICT BRITISH LEGION BRANCH

MEETING ON THURSDAY OCTOBER 4TH 7PM

Dear Residents of Eastoft

We have an opportunity to have our own Garthorpe & Fockerby British Legion Branch.
As you might be aware that the British Legion are one of the main supporters of all military services.

We all know that they raise money through the Poppy Appeal every November and the Queen is their patron.

Royal British Legion Clubs are closing but smaller branches are opening up in pubs, hotels and village halls and as the nearest is in Scunthorpe/Goole and we have a connection within the local Villages of people that have served and are serving it would be good to open up a Branch in Garthorpe & Fockerby that will be available to everyone In the surrounding villages and this invitation is open to all, not just the Forces.

We have a representative from the Lincoln RBL Mr T Goodwin coming to Garthorpe on Thursday 4th October at 7pm to discuss the possibilities of opening a branch and what it entails and this will be held in St Mary’s Church so please do come along if you can as this meeting is open to everyone.

I would like to mention there is no commitment or looking for committee members at this point its just a general meeting of what a RBL Branch does and the protocols and there is a process.
To date there has been some Interest and it would be good for the Village and a network for local communities, veterans and serving personnel to get together and have a social once in a while.

If you would have liked to come to the meeting but unable to please email: garthorpedistrictRBL@gmail.com

or If you do not have email facilities then please drop a note with name and address to
Mrs S Graham,2 Church Cottages,Shore Road,Garthorpe.
and will be pleased to forward the relevant information after the meeting.
I would like to thank you for taking time in reading the above.

Your Sincerely,

Susan Graham
