Change to Church services dates from March onwards

The pattern of church services at St. Bartholomew’s has recently fallen on the first and third Sunday’s of each month.

Following a review of services we have agreed to move them back to the second and fourth Sundays from March 2017 onwards.

There will be a Praise for All Ages service at 11.00am on the second Sunday and a Family Communion service at 9.30am on the fourth Sunday each month.

Where there are five Sunday’s in a month, a Communion service will be held at one of the churches in the Marshlands Benefice on a cyclical basis. The next fifth Sunday service at St. Bartholomew’s Church will be on the 30th April at 11.00am.

The services for March in the Marshlands will be:

5th Praise for All Ages – Whitgift 11.00am
12th Family Communion – Adlingfleet – 9.30am

12th Praise for All Ages – Eastoft 11.00am
19th Family Communion – Whitgift 9.30am
19th Morning Prayer – Adlingfleet 11.00am

26th Family Communion – Eastoft 9.30am
26th Praise for All Ages – Adlingfleet 11.00am

We will also be running a Lent course at two venues over five weeks. Further details will be sent out soon.

July Services at St. Bartholomew’s Church

There are two services this month in St Bartholomew’s Church, Eastoft.

On the 10th July there is a Holy Communion Service at 9.30am and on the 24th of July there is a Morning Praise service again at 9.30am

There are five Sunday’s in July so we will have an additional service in the Marshlands Benefice in Adlingfleet on the  31st at 11.00am. This will be a Songs Of Praise service so please join us in singing some of our favourite hymns and worship songs. This service will be followed by a picnic.

If you want to know more about the church in Eastoft or the Marshlands Benefice, please do call Ian Bishop on 798756 or Rev. Justine Smith on 798399.

Welcome to Rev. Justine Smith & June Services

Last Wednesday the Bishop of Doncaster the Right Reverend Peter Burrows formally licensed Rev. Justine Smith as the Priest In Charge of the Marshlands Benefice.

The event was held at Whitgift church which was packed with friends from Justine’s previous parish and her new friends from the Marshlands. It was a fantastic occasion and truly marked the beginning of a new chapter in the life of the Anglican church in our wonderful part of the world.

Justine’s first service in the Marshlands will be this Sunday at Eastoft where we will be joined with the good folks from Whitgift church.

If you haven’t yet had chance to meet Justine, then you are more than welcome us at the service, which will be at 9.30 am.

The following Sunday, there is a United Benefice Service at Swinefleet church at 11.00am.

As we move into June there will be two services at Eastoft.

There is a Holy Communion service at 9.30am on the 12th and a Morning Praise service on the 26th which is also at 9.30am

We look forward to seeing you sometime soon as we begin our new journey together.

Arrival of our New Vicar and details of services in Eastoft

Many of you may already know that the Diocese of Sheffield has appointed a new Priest In Charge for the Marshlands Benefice which includes the Parish of Eastoft.

Church News and Upcoming Events

I’ve been asked to let everyone know about the services and news as not everyone gets the Marshland Messenger or has chance to see the service times on the church notice board.

Since the retirement and sad passing on of the Revd. Ken, the Diocese has done some further fantastic work in trying to find someone to take on the Marshlands post. The result is that someone is showing great interest in the Marshlands.

There is a service at 2pm at Eastoft on Sunday the 6th (this Sunday) and then afterwards there will be a chance to discuss the post and the potential candidate in anticipation of an interview on Monday the 14th.

We would be delighted to see as many people at church on Sunday and for the meeting afterwards so that the needs of Eastoft can be thoroughly considered.

December is such a special time in the Church calendar and we hope that the Marshlands Parish can offer you all an opportunity to share in worship at some point.

There will be a Carol service at Eastoft on Sunday the 13th December at 6.30pm, where there will be Carols and Christmas readings…There might even be a mince pie and a cup of tea afterwards!

There will also be a Christmas Communion service on the 20th at 11.00am.

The primary school are holding their Christingle service in church on Friday the 11th at 2.00pm

And of course the Parish Council have arranged once again for Carols Around the Tree on Wednesday the 16th at 7pm…I’m already praying that the weather is fine

There isn’t a service on Christmas Eve in Eastoft but the were is an all age service at 6.30pm at Adlingfleet.

The Christmas Day service is at Whitgift at 10.00am and as always this will be a very special service – a great antidote to TV and Turkey!

There are lots of other services at the Marshlands churches throughout December but there is no service on Sunday the 27th.

Sunday 6th – Whitgift 11.00am Family Service, Eastoft 2.00pm Holy Communion followed by meeting at the Village Hall or in Church.

Sunday 13th – Adlingfleet 11.00 Holy Communion, Whitgift 3.00pm Carol Service, Eastoft 6.30pm Carol Service
